Our Innovative Aluminium Gunwale System
The new Arctic Watersport heavy-duty aluminium gunwale system is designed to offer practical advantages over traditional gunwales.
In addition to excellent durability and stiffness, its low-profile inner lip provides approximately 2 cm more space beneath the gunwale. This extra room makes it easier to pack larger gear, such as barrels and high-volume bags.
The system also provides a secure platform for accessories. Clamp-on rod holders and other attachments stay firmly in place, while bolting, riveting, and lashing are all possible when a more permanent attachment is preferred.
The recessed area of the gunwale makes it possible to attach gear, install seats, handles, yokes, and other accessories without bolts protruding above the gunwale.
There are no visible rivets on the outside of the gunwale, creating a cleaner appearance and reducing the risk of fishing lines becoming tangled around external rivets.
And that is not all – huge advantage is that this system helps minimize the visible waviness often seen in ultra-lightweight, thin-walled composite canoes.
The system is also a more environmentally conscious option. This PVC-free product is highly durable and 100% recyclable. It is manufactured locally in Finland, supporting sustainable production ways.
