KAJAK PRO - Elite 660 Wood

The “Elite 660 Wood” asymmetric paddle is a project that supports the sustainable development of our company. Using the injection mould that has been in use at Kajak.Pro for 4 years, we have selected a material for the production of paddle blades that has a multifaceted impact on sustainable development. First of all, it did not generate additional costs and, consequently, did not increase the pressure on the environment, because we did not create a new injection mold for this project.

The Elite 660 Wood paddle is primarily a polypropylene material for paddle blades with the addition of 30% wood, which is obtained from selected resources, which is confirmed by the TUV Rheinland Group certificate.

We have replaced 30% of the glass fibre share in production with natural wood fibres. As a result, we used as much as 30% of fully renewable material in the production of Elite 660 Wood paddle blades. This material can be used as re-granulate again in our production cycle after use. In addition, changes compared to the paddle with a polypropylene blade with the addition of 30% glass fibre resulted in a 12.8% decrease in the weight of the paddle, which not only reduces the impact on the environment due to smaller dimensions in transport and shipments to the customer but also affects the comfort of use when paddling a lighter paddle.

We did not use any colouring substances in the production of the blade to reduce the impact on the environment and reduce the number of components needed in production to a minimum.

Additionally, the drip ring built into the blade construction completely replaced a separate drip cap, the production and assembly of which generates an additional carbon footprint.

We used a technique of assembling the blades to the shaft without any glues, mechanically clamping the shaft on the kayak blade element, which sped up production, saving natural resources and eliminating glues that generate a significant carbon footprint.

The anodized shaft made it unnecessary to use rubber grips. This resulted in a total reduction in weight and optimization of the production cycle.

The whole procedure fits into the aspects of sustainable development:

striving for social justice (taking care of the environment for future generations) while creating conditions for the development of business and society. This is the reason why we should receive this prestigious distinction.
