Real sustainability is not usually sexy.

For our new FreeFlow Foam, the sexy part is that it is PVC-free. PVC has been the default in PFD foam for decades because it is cheap, it floats, and more honestly no one was looking into anything else about it. The more the industry has looked into it the more it has become clear that PVC releases toxic chemicals throughout its production, day to day use, and even in its disposal.

This PVC-free aspect of FreeFlow is an accomplishment, but not what we are most proud of in its development. In developing FreeFlow Foam, we made a significant effort to consolidate the supply chain for both the foam and our PFDs that use it. We aimed to cut the back-and-forth transportation created by a fragmented supply chain and the real environmental harm it causes. FreeFlow Foam is manufactured and sculpted in the same factory where we make our PFDs and many other products. This may sound small, but in the bigger picture, it is one of the biggest things that Level Six can do towards making us a greener company.

FreeFlow is the premium foam in every PFD we make and is paired with the Halo Fit System across the whole line. In addition to being more sustainable, it is also one of the softest foam systems on the market. This elevates every PFD that we make with it, and we cannot wait for paddlers to experience it in person.
