Over the August Bank Holiday weekend ( 28-30th ) local charity Paddle Peak are giving Derbyshire youngsters the opportunity to try kayaking on the Cromford Canal, free of charge as part of Cromford Mills Adventure Weekend.
In 2019 this event was amazingly successful. All sessions were fully booked, and Paddle Peak gave 240 local kids the chance to experience paddlesports in this wonderful and historic venue.
Sessions will be running daily from 9.45am – 4.30pm. Bookings will be taken each day in person only from 9.30am in Cromford Wharf.Participants please wear trainers or water shoes, wetsuits, shorts, thermals or rashies.
Bring a towel and a change of clothes. At lunchtime each day there will be paddlesport canoe slalom, canoe polo and freestyle kayaking demonstrations performed by team GB members including Olympians from just back from Tokyo 2020.
On Saturday local Paddlesport equipment manufacturer Peak UK will be holding their annual massive sale of samples, old and used equipment in the mill yard. Come along and grab a bargain.
Other outdoor activities will also be taking place around the mill complex over the weekend. Come along and join the fun. Covid rules will apply to protect participants and volunteers.
